PEMBROKE PINES – The goals just keep coming for Ricardo Diegues, and the Lakieland Tropics are thankful that they are.

Diegues scored two first half goals Wednesday night as Lakeland won their second straight Premier Development League game, 2-1 over Weston FC.

Diegues was a star for Lakeland's sister franchise, the Florida Tropics of the Major Arena Soccer League which completed its first indoor season at the Lakeland Center in February. He was tied for the team lead in goals with 17 in 16 games, despite missing a month with a leg injury.

His brace Wednesday night gives him three goals in three games for Lakeland, which won 4-3 last Saturday against The Villages SC, before a crowd of more than 6,000 fans at Bryant Stadium. Diegues had a goal in that win as well.

Lakeland goalkeeper Jonathan Valerio had several big saves against Weston in picking up his second win of the season too.

The Tropics will continue with their “Soccer Saturdays” in Lakeland this weekend, with a game against the Palm Beach Suns kicking off at 7:35 p.m. Then, on June 3, the Tampa Bay Rowdies U23 team will visit, also in a 7:35 start. Both games will be webscast live. Tickets are available, as is a complete schedule and other team information, at www.lakelandtropics.com, or by calling 863-240-0101.
