Fast start isn't enough as Tropics fall to Sarasota Metropolis FC, 4-3

LAKELAND, Fla. – The best start of the season – three goals in the first 20 minutes – was not enough as the Lakeland Tropics fell to Sarasota Metropolis FC, 4-3, in a USL League Two game Saturday night at Bryant Stadium.

Rafael Vacas got his team leading fourth and fifth of the season early in the first, and Julian Hall added his first of the year in the 20th minute to stake the hosts to an early 3-0 advantage.

The Blue Dragons started their comeback when Andre Scott scored the first goal of the night in first-half stoppage time. Buoyed by that goal, Scott scored his second of the night early in the second half, and Sarasota added two more to complete the rally.

It was the Dragons first win since May 15, and improved their record to 3-4-2. Lakeland fell to 3-4-2.

Lakeland will play its next four on the road, starting Tuesday against Daytona SC, and next Saturday at The Villages SC. For more information, visit www.lakelandtropics.com.
