LAUDERHILL Fla. – Late night turned into late heartbreak again for the Lakekland Tropics as they dropped a 3-1 decision to FC Miami City Tuesday in a USL League Two Southeastern division game.

After a lengthy weather delay, and trailing 2-0 in the second half, the Tropics pulled to within 2-1 on a goal by Banabas Ganidekam – his first of the year. Lakeland then appeared to have the equalizer on a set-piece goal in the 85th minute. However, that score was nullified on an offiside call, the Miami added a late score of their own for the 3-1 final.

Miami took over first place in the division with the win, improving to 5-2-1 with 16 points, while Lakeland fell to 3-3-2, good for 11 points and fifth in the table.

The Tropics will be home Saturday against Sarasota Metropolis FC in a 7 p.m. kickoff at Bryant Stadium, before embarking on a four-game road trip with stops in Daytona, The Villages, Treasure Coast and Sarasota before closing out the regular season July 12 at home against Florida Elite SA.
