Tropics can't convert as FC Miami City hangs first loss on Lakeland

by Brian Ackley

LAKELAND, Fla. -- The Lakeland Tropics had plenty of chances to score, but could not convert any of them in falling to FC Miami City, 2-0, Saturday night at Bryant Stadium, the first USL League Two loss of the season for the hosts.

Miami actually played much of the game a man down as well, with a red card issued midway through the first half. However goalkeep Jeremy Coste was equal to the task time and again before his club broke through with a pair of goals later in the second half.

The Tropics fell to 1-1-2 while Miami improved to 2-1-1. Scoring continues to be an issue for Lakeland, which in their loss and two draws have managed just two goals.

Lakeland will have a short turnaround time as they will be on the road Tuesday at Florida Elite Soccer Academy, before returning to Bryant Stadium next Saturday, June 5, when they host the first place Treasure Coast Tritons. For tickets, call 863-240-0101.
