Tropics grab early lead, but fall on the road to Daytona SC, 3-2

DAYTONA, Fla. – For the second straight game, the Lakeland Tropics got on the board first but could not hold an early lead as Daytona SC took a 3-2 win Tuesday night in Daytona in a USL League 2 matchup.'

Lakeland took a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute on a goal by Rafael Vacas, his sixth of the season to lead the Tropics, and got a second goal in the 42nd minute from Kaz Kimura to tie the game at 2-2 at intermission.

Daytona's Shandel Senior got the game winner in the 81st minute to drop Lakeland's record to 3-5-2. Daytona improved to 4-1-4.

The Tropics are back in action Saturday in the second of four-straight games on the road as they head north to take on The Villages SC in a 6 p.m. Start July 29. Lakeland stays on the road for visits to the Treasure Coast Tritons (July 6) and Sarasota Metropolis FC (July 9) before closing the season at home on Saturday, July 12 against Florida Elite SA.
