Tropics on road Tuesday for key USL League Two showdown in Miami

LAKELAND, Fla. – The Lakeland Tropics will be on the road Tuesday for a key showdown to kick off the second half of the USL League Two schedule.

The Tropics will meet FC Miami City in a 6 p.m. kickoff at Central Broward Stadium. The two teams are battling for one of the two top spots in the Southeastern Division. Those two teams will qualify for the USL post-season.

The two teams met June 1 at Bryant Stadium with Miami taking a surprising 2-0 win. The Tropics had most of the chances in the game, and Miami played a man-down for the majority of the game after a first-half red card, but Lakeland was not able to take advantage. 

The Tropics come in a 3-2-2 with 11 points (fifth place), and FC Miami City is at 4-2-1 with 13 points, good for second place in the division.

Miami's attack is balanced, with 10 different players in the goals column, including nine players with one goal each this season. Rafael Vacas leads the Tropics with three goals, all coming in the team's last two wins, while Kaz Kimura has two on the year.
